Supervisor – Fleet Telematics and Usage Based Insurance: Responsible for the design, implementation and delivery of Ford’s Fleet Telematics and Usage Based Insurance features.

  • Global Feature Owner for Ford Motor Company’s Fleet Telematics feature set. Result: More than 175,000 active monthly subscriptions generating over $6 Million per year in revenue.

  • Global Feature Owner for Ford Motor Company’s Usage Based Insurance (UBI) product offering. Result: Data services contracts currently with seven (7) insurance providers and data aggregators as well as allowing for Ford Motor Company’s white label insurance offering – Ford Insure.

  • Grow the Fleet Telematics and Usage Base Insurance team 10-fold. Result: Positioned to provide on-going operational support and troubleshooting services to the business teams for both the Fleet Telematics and UBI feature sets.

  • Provide GPDS deliverables (Specifications, DFMEA and FuSA) across global program lines for Fleet Telematics (including AV and EV programs) as well as for Usage Based Insurance. Result: Met required milestone deliveries for four (4) separate technology bundle launches.

  • Design and promote new data collection methods for commercial and retail use cases. Result: Potentially reduce data transmission requirements by 80% providing significant cost savings.

  • Initiate effort to model new data off-loading capabilities. Result: Reduce time to deploy and provide automated testing platform.

  • Work with a variety of cross functional teams on Plant to Dealer, Mobile Eye and Transport mode data offloading providing guidance and connectivity expertise. Result: Successful initiation of the efforts.

  • Manage the delivery of mechanical engineering aspects of the effort to provide 3G to 4G conversion kits. Result: Potential savings of approximately $300,000.

  • Lead teams charged with delivering the mechanical mounting and electrical interfacing of Ford Telematics Powered by Telogis. Result: Allowed for the partnership with Telogis (now Verizon Connect) delivering Ford’s first success Fleet Telematics offering providing over $2 Million per year in revenue.

  • Lead cross functional teams triaging and identifying root cause for field issues for Ford Commercial Solutions (FCS) global customers. Result: Issue resolution leading to customer retainment.

  • Interface with Tier1 suppliers providing critical component and software infrastructure. Result: Successful Change Request implementation and defect resolution across three (3) Telematics Control Unit hardware platforms.

  • Provide specifications and design options for data collection via Fleet Telematics feature on Ford Motor Company autonomous vehicle lines. Result: Redundant data collection for vehicle maintenance and monitoring.

      • Maintained strategic road map for Telematics considering the state of the market, VOC (Voice of Customer) and available internal / external resources. Result: Delivered strategies reducing data charges $30,000 / month as well as $50,000 / year in internal IT infrastructure costs.

      • Initiated project to reduce cost of Telematics hardware. Result: Achieved production approval in 3 months that led to $20,000 in savings in the first year.

      • Led cross-functional team to engineer, develop and implement Telematics products globally. Result: Established CraneSTAR in serial production and provided actionable information on product utilization for customers to maximize crane use and reduce operation costs.

      • Served as director of Innovation Center in New Port Richey, FL. Result: Introduced HiL (Hardware In the Loop) software testing for Global Engineering reducing testing times 20%. US Patent Application #: 14/590608.

      • Negotiated new data connectivity agreement to supply global cellular access for CraneSTAR. Result: Delivered 80% savings in data connectivity charges.

      • Collaborated on a team to provide new methods of monitoring cranes during operation and testing. Result: Provided new methods and tools replacing antiquated system for post-production structural testing. US Patent Application #: 14/399766.

      • Developed business case, budgets and project time lines to construct a state-of-the-art data warehouse and data analytics system to store and process collected Telematics data. Result: Delivered insight into product utilization for improved quality, better marketing, and reduced engineering cycle times.

      • Directed the application of CraneSTAR on a new line of branded cranes manufactured by Sennebogen. Result: Achieved implementation resulting in a 5-crane order.

      • Negotiated Sales and Service agreements with external hardware, software and connectivity vendors. Result: Enabled supply of critical Telematics system components.

      • Identified methods to reduce complexity and increase scalability of Telematics system. Result: Optimized system performance and provided future tiered product offerings for profit generation.

      • Communicated with all stakeholders including senior management to report on Telematics program time lines and costs. Result: Delivered consistent program results on time and within budget.

2002 to 2006


Program Manager/VP: Responsible to the CEO and BOD for the management of $10+ Million Cooperative Research and Development Agreement between Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Navigational Sciences, Inc.

  • Led a project to provide a tracking solution for US Department of State shipping containers. Result: Detected unauthorized entry into overseas shipments.

  • Directed and transferred government sponsored wireless technology from US Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory to the private sector. Result: Won bid for grant totaling $150,000.

1999 to 2002


Principal: Responsible for managing daily operations and application of unique Earth Science solutions for customers.

    • Collaborated on virtual fly-through of Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade route. Result: Created nationally broadcast animation which attracted viewers.

Design Engineer: Responsible to CEO to deliver the design and application of unparalleled engineering solutions for customers.

    • Designed unique optical system and accompanying procedures to use the positions of stars to align satellite dishes. Result: Utilized system to meet confidential requirements of the Goddard Space Flight Center.
